For years fur has been one of the most controversial parts of the fashion industry. In fact, it wasn't long ago that anyone who wore fur was seen as inhumane. The "
I'd rather go nude then wear fur" campaign from PETA was the root of this observation. The campaign featured fashion icons such as Christy Turlington and Pamela Anderson to name a few, naked in an advertisement for animal rights. People would do anything to protect animals, but now a days fur is creeping back into society. Fur trimmed mittens, coats hats and in particular mukluks are everywhere, including our school...
I surveyed my friends asking their opinions on fur trimmed clothing....while "offensive" and "mean" were commonly used words others look at fur as "a fashion statement" or "a trendy touch". Words are words, the real way to tell if people are pro or anti fur, is whether they are wearing it or not....
What's your opinions on fur?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI think fur fashions are defiantly a cool look, but not when they are making animals extinct. The fur cloths are also quite expensive! This year I got moccasins that have fake fur on them! I got them from Joe for a good price too! I think killing animals are bad, and then putting them om clothing, when you can get the same look for less and for better.
Yes, it's a very controversial topic, and I'm on the side of fur-lovers. I can't stand anything fake or faux, and I think nothing compares to the look and feel of real fur. There are so many people on either side of this argument, and I think the most important thing is to accept that there will be people who hate fur, and who love fur. It's not worth getting all violent about it.

Hey :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great article!
I grew up in a large family, things are always passed around from our ancestors and I wasn't surprised when one day there was a big plump fur coat sitting in the closit. I think I have personally hated that thing since day one considering it is made out of bare. I know not every one hates fur, it is a large part of the fashion industry but I think that everybody one should think about this.. You raise an animal from birth, love it, care for it, have a bond with it, and then kill it , eat it, and make something out of what's left. Seems a little harsh right? Welcome to reality.... Vegatarians rock! -Katie
Hey :)
ReplyDeleteGreat story. Personally, I think that fur fashions are amazing! They look cool, and feel cool! But- don't get me wrong, sometimes I do feel bad. I think, only the real stuff looks good, but I hate the idea of killing an animal for a coat. Last year, I bought a Canada Goose coat. When I bought it I did not know that it was real bunny fur on the hood. I felt bad, but it looked good! It is true, life would be way easier if there was no real fur coats, but the fact is, some people just can't live without a brand-new, overpriced beaver hat.

Hey
ReplyDeleteThat is a great topic. I haven't seen it covered the way you did, anywhere. Well, how do I start this? Lets face it the truth is, we all hate them. I don't wear real fur, but I think it looks good. We should all just except, that fur cloths, are never ever going to stop. It definitely does make a big statement if it is worn the right way. On the other hand, what is the point of killing these innocent animals, if the look is worn wrong and looks bad? Just an opinion.

I luv fur! but only if the slaughter was humane and many fur farms arent humane at all! i live in canada and truthfully, it can get cold in the winter and fur can keep u cute and cozy at once. so if its neccessary to wear fur i buy from an organic shop downtown but if i can avoid it, fake fur works fine...and its better for my pocket book
ReplyDeleteI love the look but hate how real fur feels. I opt for fake fur instead. And let me tell you, I can't get enough!
